OUTLINE: You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.
CONTENT: Jesus in his sermon on the mount, likened mankind to Salt and Light; two main ingredients for our use. Salt is a productive and purifying agent also a preservative and an irritant. Today’s sermon is an exhortation to avoid being salt as irritant but an oil that brings healing to a sore wound, and a light to illuminate the darkest place.
Women Home Missionary, you are the salt and light around you as you visit and pray with the sick, and aid them financially.1 John 1 tells us that the Light of God is without darkness. John 8 :12, Jesus testifies of himself saying, “I am the Light of the world”. Therefore, let us walk in the light. The church must take a stand for there is much darkness around us, and in high places. We need to pray for our Government, in which there is much unrest. God created Light and Darkness and separated them. You cannot hold on to Jesus while you walk with the devil in the darkness. We are a chosen race, adopted and called by Jesus to sing his praises for he brought us from darkness into light. He thought we were worth dying for, and gave us a new commandment to love one another as he has loved us, John 13:34; He urges us to be children of light, 1Peter 2:9. There are two things worth remembering; (a) Love is the Light that shines through the heart of a Christian, and (b) A Christian Is a window through which the world sees Jesus.
If we must reflect the light, we cannot be in darkness. Brighten the corner where you are.
