OUTLINE: “Jesus foretells His death, and things to come after.”
CONTENT: As Jesus’ time drew near for his arrest and death, he spoke to his father and to
his disciples preparing them for the ordeal he was about to endure. He expressed how troubled
he felt even though he knew that was the reason why he came into the world. God answered
him audibly saying, I have both glorified it and will glorify it again; those who heard it said the
voice thundered, others thought it was the voice of an angel. The lessons we can learn from this
event are: –
(1). Lift Jesus up as Savior. Jesus is our only Savior, the one who redeems, he was crucified
on a cross of shame for sins not his own. He puts all other so-called gods to shame: He is in a
league all of his own. He is the one true God.
(2). Lift up the Cross. Paul boasted about the cross of Jesus, though it was not attractive in
any way. It denoted negativity, but God turned it around for His Glory. He chose to let the foolish
and simple things confound the wise. The Jews and Greeks could not comprehend, although
they were learned, why there were such happenings. God chose a simple virgin as a conveyer
for the ruler of the world and to bring salvation to all mankind. For we have all sinned and come
short of His glory. Romans 3:23.
(3). Lift up the Love of Christ. He said a new commandment I give to you, that you love one
another as I have loved you. John 15: 13-14. His love was extended to the thief on the cross
beside Him. He asked forgiveness for his accusers as they crucified Him. In love He gave His
life for all.
Draw near to Christ, rededicate your life to Him. LIFT HIM UP!!!
