TEXT: John 6: 14-15.
OUTLINE: Then those men, when they had seen the miracles that Jesus did, said, ”This is truly the
Prophet who is to come into the world.”
CONTENT: People are motivated by different events or forces they see. Look at some motivators:
John,—-That you may believe Jesus is the Son, the Christ. Others, murmured he is known in
the village , the Carpenter’s son; Others , that Prophet that is to come, the promised one.
We must discover what motivates us most; what makes us willing to defend or fight for a
The people there were motivated by :
(1) The things they had seen and heard. The miracles and lessons of authority he taught;
crowds fed. We must be motivated because of God’s love for us and ours for Him. Why
do we come to worship? Because we can fellowship with others. He woke us up this
morning ; all reasons to be motivated. Miracles embolden our faith. What happens
when God does not answer us immediately? Do we wait or lose faith. Judges 6: 11, 27-
30, tells of Gideon ,a man of valor whose faith was tried but God was with him , he kept
the faith. God could test us, as soon as we are ready to give up, that is when God is
ready to respond.
(2) The people were also motivated by ‘Title’. They guessed Jesus was more than a prophet
but a king, or the Savior. God is not impressed by our title but by our service to Him.
(3) Motivated by a Mission: At this point Jesus knew his work was not yet complete, He
had other missions to accomplish; He knew they would come and take him away by
force to make him king so he departed to the mountain out of sight.
