TEXT: Luke 1: 46-55.
OUTLINE: Mary glorifies the Lord God in song.
CONTENT: Mary, a simple young woman of Nazareth, preparing for marriage, had a
life changing surprise and confusion. She was saluted by an angel who told her she was
in the process of conceiving and bearing a son, and his name should be called Jesus. A
terrible situation for an unmarried woman. Why of all persons God chose Mary? Two
things to be learnt from event:
1. Mary had a simple life, and a humble disposition. She had a level of faith, since this message
was from God. Verse 38. She thought it through and did not doubt God’s undeserved favor and
grace to her. She had a heart geared to believe, honor and obey God.
2. She had a proper understanding of who God was. (a) He is Savior and redeemer. (b) He is no
respecter of persons; He did not choose a significant person to be mother of His son, just a simple
maid. (c) God is eternal. He is the same yesterday and will be tomorrow. He never fails or go back
on His words. Verse50. (e) God is faithful. Do not rush God, He takes His time.
Mary knew God will take her through the whole situation since He ordained it, so she
Praised God, verse 46-48; and God chose her because she had a humble and obedient
heart, one after his own. She will raise His son as He desires.
THOUGHT: Ask God for a pure heart designed to serve Him.
