TEXT: John 2: 1-11.
OUTLINE: Jesus attended a wedding where He performed His first miracle.
CONTENT: There was a wedding in Cana of Galilee to which Mary, Jesus and his disciples attended. At
some time of the celebration the wine finished. Mary knowing Jesus’ capabilities went to Him, but he turned
her away because His time for a miracle had not yet come. However, she told the servants to do whatever
Jesus told them. Later He told them to fill the water pots That was there with water, and so they did. He then
told them to draw from the pots and Take to governor of the feast. There are lessons we can learn if God is
going to be our Providential God:-
1. Think about others: – Mary saw the situation and embarrassment the family would have felt and
sought Jesus’ help. When God blesses, us we must think of others and how we can be of help.
2. The importance of relying on God: – Mary called on Jesus. God wants us to rely on His word, and
not on our intuition or feelings. We must be obedient to a reliable God and do what He says. Have
faith that what He says he will do, He will. He supplies all our needs; Philippians 4:13 & 19 are
positive affirmations of relying on God.
3. God gives us His best: – Jesus told the servants to fill the jars with water which turned out to be a
better tasting wine than they had before; verse 10. His commands always save the day. for
example, stilling the storm.
Thought: When God provides we must say thanks.
