Bible verse of the day

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Romans 12:21

The Meaning of Easter

Easter is the most important feast in Christianity. In fact, it is platform on which the Christian faith stands and the focal point around which everything in the Church’s calendar revolves.

So what do we celebrate at Easter? On Easter Sunday. we commemorate the fact that Jesus Christ rose from the grave on the third day after His crucifixion and death on Calvary.

Of course. the resurrection of Christ is a mystery that we believe. But it is also and emphatically a historical fact that we know actually took place.

It is a historical fact that Jesus of Nazareth was physically alive on planet earth,  died a physical death on what is known as Good Friday, was physicall buried, and physically and rose from the grave.

It is a provable fact that Jesus came back to life after being crucified, that His disciples were unwilling to accept the fact, but were given overwhelming evidence that Jesus had truly risen. It is a fact that Christ’s resurrection was no mere subjective experience. It was no illusion or merely spiritual phenomenon. No, the risen Christ had a body, and flesh, and could be seen, heard and touched (1 Corinthians 15: 1-17; St John 20:24-29)

This Easter falls on April Fool’s Day. This day is usually associated with people pulling pranks or making fun of others for the sake of trickery. However, despite the fact that Easter falls on such a day, Easter is no joke. The Lord and Savior of our lives Jesus of Nazareth the anointed ‘messiah’, the Son of God, Emmanuel, God with us, came lived, died, rose again at Easter, never to die again, but will return to receive His church to himself, as king of kings and Lord of lords. Through His death and resurrection we are assured, once we accept him as redeemer of our lives, of eternal life. Hallelujah ! He is risen as he said!

Have a happy, holy and blessed Easter.
