"And they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and power, who did great wonders and miracles among the people".

a) He was Spirit and Faith filled: When Spirit filled, you know Jesus in a personal way, you know from whence comes your source of strength and power. You spend time worshipping and praying to God. You know you should not be conformed to this world, but transformed by the renewing of your mind. Stephen was such a man; he spoke with authority and conviction and people listened. He exalted Jesus and not himself. He was accused of blasphemy and they imprisoned him and stoned him to death, thus Stephen became the first Christian martyr.
b) His Sermon: It gave a lesson of Abraham and the Israelites and the reason of their long stay in the wilderness. Stephen spoke of the Word without fear because he needed to be blessed by God and he knew he was accountable to God. They needed to hear the Word. He called them "stiff-necked people and uncircumcised in heart".
C) The Result: His outcome may have been bad, but his uplift was glorious. He looked up to heaven and saw visions of God in heaven. He died in the Lord, while praying for his accusers. (Acts 7: 56-60).

THOUGHT
Devotion to Jesus means Faith and the Spirit go together; service to God and sacrifice for others.
