Jesus Christ is acclaimed as the most influential person on this planet earth. There is no one who can be compared to Him. The predominant theme of the scriptures is the Person and work of Jesus Christ. The question has been asked, "Is Jesus God?" The answer is, a decisive "Yes". He is, God in every sense of the word.
A) Jesus is Revealed as God- Jesus is the Christ-in John 1:1, it says: In the beginning was the Word (Jesus Christ), and the Word was with God and the Word was God". Genesis 1:26, states that God said ''let us make man in our own image and in our own likeness" Who was God talking to? The Pre-Existent Christ! God as we know Him is a Godhead manifested in three distinct personalities: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. 1 John 5:7 informs us that" There are three who bear record in heaven: the Father, the Word (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit and these three are “ONE". Jesus is the Prophet, Priest and King. Jesus as God is the divine companion of the Father. He also is the divine communicatior, meaning that He reveals or sheds light on who The Father and the Spirit are. He is also the Creator": All things were made by Him" (John 1:3). When God created the world, Jesus was there.
B) Jesus is Recognized as God- John 1:15 says John bore witness of Him. In other words, John knew who He was and in fact prepared the way for the Redeemer. In verse 29 John recognized Jesus and said, "Behold the Lamb of God" doubting Thomas touched His side and Hand and said, "My Lord and My God" (John 20:28). Jesus removed his doubt.
C) Jesus is Received as God- 1:11 says, He came unto His own and His own received Him not...But those who received Him He gave power (the right) to be called children of God (John 1:12). Obviously, Jesus could not give us the power to be children of God if He was not God. Thank God for Jesus! When He is received in our lives, He overcomes for us our darkness. When He is received in our lives He overcomes our Depravity. When He is received in our lives, He overcomes our Death.
THOUGHT
WHEN WE ARE DOWN TO NOTHING, GOD IS UP TO SOMETHING.
