A Rewarding Experience

The early Church celebrated many feast days, Pentecost being one of them. God had His plan of sending the Holy Spirit (The Comforter) on this day. The disciples had seen the Crucifixion and Resurrection and waited for Jesus' promise to send them a comforter. As they waited praying in one accord, the greatest thing happened, the sound of a mighty rushing wind filled the place and cloven tongues of fire descended and the Holy Spirit came on them all. We too can experience this kind of sensation. However, there are prerequisites for us to receive the Holy Spirit.
They are:-
a) Accepting the Lord Jesus as our Redeemer:- He can forgive us from all unrighteousness and save us from our sins. Peter refers to Him as the Christ who teaches us to love our fellowmen as ourselves; to let go of evil and obtain good, kind-hearted and loving thoughts. We as Christians have an anchor that keeps the soul. Let us walk worthy of our calling.
b) Be Unified as a Church: let others see in us the goodness of God. One of the Churches challenges is Unity. We must be unified to establish a good and healthy relationship with one another. As Christians sometimes we lack the will and the opportunity to pray. In the Christian faith patience is a virtue, and we should wait on the Lord. Being unified in our doctrines e.g., the topic of same sex marriages is one talked about today, we need to examine ourselves and have one faith. (Mark 10:6-9), says marriage is the unification of the stance of Christian relationship between a man and a woman.
c) We must stand against the Powers of Darkness:- He gives us the gift of speaking in Tongues-God moves not when we desire but He is always on time. The disciples were of one faith and waited in prayer. He sent the fire to purify us. The Holy Spirit gives us strength and wholeness; the prophesy was fulfilled. When we are filled with the Holy Spirit, we benefit from God's goodness; we bear fruits of joy, peace and kindness. He lives within us and guides us.

THOUGHT
Strive to receive that gift of the Holy Spirit and let our light shine before Him.
