You Are Not Condemned

If ever you can recapture spoken words, mistakes made, broken relationships, hurt feelings and you had a second chance, what are the possibilities to do things differently and make it work the second time around? A reflection or meditation on the scripture text presents three characters:-
(1) The Pharisees and their accusations represent those of some Religious persons. We see the ugly face of their laws, bylaws, and constitution. They always sought ways to trap Jesus. In this story they knew the woman and wanted to enforce the law but more so to trap Jesus.
(2) The woman must have been very embarrassed, and alone, she felt betrayed. Where is the man with whom she was caught in the act? Why was he not on trial too? If she could only get out of the situation she would not chance that again. We see ourselves sometimes as the woman, lost and alone; and sometimes like the Pharisees quick to judge and point the finger.
(3) We see also a forgiving Savior; Jesus, as He wrote on the ground (maybe His thoughts, knowing their sin-full and self- righteous ways) and how much they wanted to trap Him said, “He that is without sin cast the first stone”. As He rose from writing the second time, asked the woman where were her accusers, for they had all left, possibly convicted by their consciences. She said,” I have none”. She must have been relieved. Jesus said to her,” neither do I condemn thee, go in peace and sin no more”.
God is a forgiving father, He buries our sins in the sea of forgetfulness when we repent.

THOUGHT
Jesus does not condone our sins, neither does He condemn the sinner.
