Are you confident that if Jesus came today, that you will be ready to go to heaven? We would all like to go to heaven, but we are not all wanting to pay the price. What is heaven like? Is it a great celestial home filled with heavenly goodies? Or is it compared to a cruise filled with lots of food and drinks at your disposal? In this passage of scripture it is basically described as a place where all of us hope to end up one day.
Jesus describes it this way:-
a) Heaven is a place of joy: God lives there, a place with no more pain, dying and no crying. Vs. 4, says the former things have passed away, in heaven there will be fullness of joy, a place of eternal joy and peace, no sickness or sadness. Jesus promises that a great preparation is being made to accommodate all of us, because heaven is Life, Peace, Joy in the Holy Spirit. He teaches us that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life, and no man comes to the Father but by Him.
b) Heaven is a City of People:- Vs. 2, says a new Jerusalem, filled with people from every walk of life. People with clean hands and pure hearts. Let us renew our faith to serve Him on this Covenant Sunday. As a redeemed people, we come to renew our Covenant, not only with God but with one another, to seek to live like Christ, live by His words, follow Him in obedience and pray for each other.
There is only one way to get to heaven, and that is through Jesus Christ. He never writes anyone off, He is the Only Mediator, and so we must go through Him. Vs. 7, says He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be His God.
