What is it that qualifies as worship? How do you know when you have worshipped? How do you know if God is pleased with your worship? In this passage of scripture, Jesus met the Samaritan woman at the well who questioned him regarding the right place of worship, whether it was at the mountain or in Jerusalem. He explained to her that regardless of the place and time of worship, it is useless unless you worship in SPIRIT and TRUTH.
God tells us that we must do certain things to worship:-
a) We must worship in Spirit:- we must worship by making a person to person connection with our God. We should offer praise and adoration to Him in our hearts, holding nothing back. We should put away malice, resentment, envy and grudge, be concerned about what God is doing in our life. Paul and Barnabas sang praises to God in jail, and because of their praises, God heard their cries. The connection can be made anywhere and anytime, no one should have to be forced to sing God’s praises.
b) We must worship in Truth:- We must have the fundamental understanding of who God is, and the correct understanding of the Bible to worship Him in truth. Be accurate in your form of worship, worship is a life- style, not only what you do on Sunday but elsewhere. There is Salvation in Jesus, He is the way, the truth and the life. Accept Him as our Redeemer and Savior.
c) Worship Him in sincerity of :- a) Purpose – focus on God and Christ according to God’s word; b) Practice what you preach; c) put energy and vigor in Praise towards Him. Some people go to Church for various reasons. To list a few:- some go to meet friends, laugh and talk; some go for observation and speculation; some nod and dose. The wise go to Worship God.
