Under the evil reign of King Ahab, Elijah the prophet, inspired and instructed by a loving God, prophesied to the King of a drought to come. In the chapter we see God’s love in action, God commanded Elijah to go and hide; ravens fed him with bread and meat. In the Garden of Eden, God killed an animal and clothed Adam and Eve with aprons, even when we sin, God pours out his love. As we celebrate with the Women’s League today, God used women in various ways to do His work. God lifted up Deborah, the prophetess, He used a virgin named Mary, He used Mary Magdalene to bring the good news. As we celebrate Valentine’s Day, which originated years ago when three Christian men were martyred because they loved the Lord Jesus Christ.
Let us reflect on two factors of God’s love:
a) His Agape’ Love is always active: He will always uphold you, He promised that He would never leave us or forsake us, because we have victory in Him. When we are obedient to Him, he rescues us from harm and danger.
b) His Love is never a Hindrance, He will do whatever it takes to rescue us from the power of sin and death:- The widow of Zarephath to whom Elijah was sent, had seen many years of famine, but because of her obedience, he took care of her by blessing her and multiplied what little she had. Ephesians 5:21, says that we should submit ourselves one to the other in reverence to Christ. Be Humble in fear and reverence to pleasing God. God is the master of us all, let us yield in harmony, love and fellowship with each other.
THOUGHT
1 Corinthians 13: is considered to be the Love Chapter in the Bible, the greatest Valentine we could ever have is JESUS.
