Truth: What Is It?

What is Truth?--a question asked and wondered about by the world today. Even those who profess the Christ have a hard time defining the truth. Similarly, distinguishing between Christians and non-Christians is hard. We seem to be looking to the worldly cultures because of the society in which we live, to define truth for us. We struggle with the basis of acceptable behavior. Pilate wanted to see how the people felt about Jesus. He question Jesus, but Jesus' answer was that His kingdom is a heavenly one and for this purpose He came--to bear witness to the truth.
There are two models of Truth:
a) Truth defined by God--it is definitive and absolute. This is truth that God says and commands and it is final as well as authoritative.
b) Truth defined by The Individual-what we see in our society everyday is subjective and situational. For example some in society say it is okay for gay marriages to be accepted by us. That is not what God's word says. God's word is not outdated. Jesus declares that He is the way, the truth and the Life. Truth does not change. When truth does not matter, the following happens: 1) It is easy for one to be deceived; 2) decision making becomes selfish and destructive; 3)we want what we want. We also desire to live however we want to, achieve instant gratification with regards to no other.
What happens when we experience Jesus as the Truth of God:-
1) Truth liberates us and frees us to make right choices and decisions based on the word of God.
2) Eternity is at stake-there is no other way to God but by God.
3) It honors God when we obey and shows that we belong to Him.
THOUGHT
Pray for the Word of truth in our lives. God does not change; neither does His word.
