Knowing Christ

What is the greatest desire of the ages, or what do Theologins seek most? The answer is "Knowing God". Paul exhorts the Philippians to seek knowledge and the peace of
Christ. Paul wrote to the Churches from prison where the conditions were very bad. He wanted them not to just profess Christianity but be filled with Spirit, and be redeemed by the blood of Christ. Paul's request was that "I may Know Him". Knowing God is to have a personal and profound relationship with Him, even though there can be consequences:
a) A call to Know Him: (vs. 7&8)-- Having an initimate relationship with God, sometimes we desire the knowledge and full disclosure of Christ, we meet Him personally to walk and talk with Him. Paul came from being a persecutor to a prisoner of Christ, but in all of his distress he wanted to know God. Paul teaches that we must spend time knowing the Word, to be perfected in love, grow and mature. He advises us to spend time in prayer.
b) There is the Cost of Knowing Christ: Many who preached the Word have been persecuted and suffered death. Paul says that we will be persecuted, but with the cross comes the crown.
c) The consequences of Knowing Christ: There will be rough times, the responsibilities are great. Sometimes even fighting the pain to make it to God's house takes a lot of effort.

THOUGHT
God gives strenght to the weak and faith to those who persevere. We can have peace in spite of our weakness.
