Reasons I Am Not Ashamed (Part 1)
By Marcus Haynes

Why is it so hard to go against the grain? Why do people go with the majority? Why can’t we do what is right and aspire to live up to the principles? Are you ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ?
The Apostle Paul, writing to the Romans tells them of his expectations. He was not ashamed to proclaim God’s word, thus at his end he said “I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith”. We must pass through persecution and suffering if we are to enter the Kingdom of God.
Let us examine two words which are reasons why we should not be ashamed. God’s word gives us:
a) Power: It is the power of God unto Salvation. The power gives us HOPE. The world cannot take away this kind of Power. It is not nuclear or political power, but spiritual power, divine Power (DUNAMIS). Jesus told the people of Jerusalem to wait until God gives them the power from on High (Acts 1:8). 3000 souls were saved after the Holy Spirit came upon them. When Preachers preach in the power of the Spirit, lives are transformed by the saving power of Jesus Christ (Romans 5:6). Only God’s Power can change us, that is why we are not ashamed.
b) Salvation: This covers a wide area; a) Is deliverance from danger, b) saves us from life’s infections from sin, because Jesus dwells in our hearts, keeps us from lost-ness – Jesus says that He came to seek and save those who are lost, d) from the wrath of God – he gets angry at sin (e.g. in the temple) e) Salvation is Eschatological – it deals with the last events before Christ’s coming- God will save us. Ultimately, we shall all be saved or delivered.
