Is there a distinction between what you believe and how you demonstrate your fatih? Nicodemus, a wealthy, religious man went to Jesus by night with questions. He was well-versed in the law, recognized Jesus as Rabbi and teacher, but had no personal experience of things of a spiratual nature, thus he was confused when Jesus told him he had to be born again. He although because he followed the doctrines or traditions that he would see God's Kingdom.
Even today some folks still think nothing of truth and repentance. To see God's Kingdom there must be a spiritual new birth, a divine change or regeneration. Jesus used different references to explain what He meant.
Two primary truths we need to know about being born again:- It is not by what you think you deserve, not what is accomplished by works or deeds. Position or popularity does not qualify one for heaven; you may be a lawyer, teacher or even a pastor. It doesn't make a difference. Prestige or being pious cannot save you. Although Nicodemus' name meant "one who is popular", his efforts could not save him.
It is Spiritual Birth:- It is what God does for a repentant sinner. God directs and is in control. God "SO LOVED" the world that He sent His Son Jesus to be our Savior. We are the beneficiaries of what Jesus did for us--He went all the way to calvary.
