We are well into the year 2019. One of my favorite hymns goes like this: “And are we yet alive, to see each other’s face Glory and praise to Jesus give for his redeeming grace” (Hymn #709 Methodist Hymnal)
At the time of writing this, we are already 8 days into 2019, by God’s grace. This is no doubt a venture of uncertainty into the unknown. Uncertainty, because for obvious reasons, none of us know what this year holds for us. If we belong to God and if we acknowledge Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we know there is no need to worry or to be apprehensive about what lies ahead. God holds the future. What is more, our lives are in his hands.
With that assurance, we walk boldly and confidently into 2019, knowing that not only does God hold our hands, but that “he has our backs”. With that assurance also, we know that we can become our best and most authentic selves as we journey with God.
So then, go forth, unbowed, undeterred and determined to put your lives in the hands of God who created you in his image and likeness. May this God grant you prosperity and great health; may he expand your territory and make you a better person in this year than you were in 2018.
