TEXT: 1 Corinthians 1: 10:18
OUTLINE: For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
CONTENT: Paul wrote to the Corinthian churches encouraging them to strive for unity in the churches. Acts 2 tells of the early churches in Jerusalem being of one accord on the day of Pentecost and filled with the Holy Spirit. If the church is going to be together, we must unite in spirit. Churches do become divided from time to time, that is how different denominations came about. Paul however did not like the divisions of, some for Apollos, some for Cephas, some for Paul others for Christ.
Their carnal behavior and activities bothered him; even though they had the gifts of tongues and discerning of the spirit. He encouraged them and prayed for unity among them. Paul’s subject for appeal was to put an end to the division and move forward to a united force for the Lord Jesus. Is Christ divided he asked, verse 12-13. Jesus is our Savior; Him only do we serve. He will bless and reward us. Christ sent me to not to baptize but to preach the gospel and Christ crucified.
When God’s people get together there is nothing that cannot be accomplished; no demon can go against them. Disagreements will come but we must work together for the Kingdom.
Thought: We are not perfect but reconcilement can be made.
