TEXT: 1 Corinthians 3
OUTLINE: I, the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, Verse 10.
CONTENT: Children grow up and go through many stages physically, emotionally, and mentally until they get to adulthood; that’s God’s plan. So, it is with Spirituality and Church growth.
Paul wrote to the Corinthians about different issues like growth, doctrine and divisions among them. They had preferences for those who ministered among them instead of aligning themselves to Christ and heeding the word of God. Paul mentioned three things God expected of them as Christians: –
(1) To demonstrate Godliness: – Spiritual growth required them to grow in the knowledge of Christ, unlike babies who only used milk for food. As Christians we must study the word of God; pray and communicate with God constantly.
(2) To learn the lessons of ‘numbers’ that is, growing in size: – The planting and care of seeds with God’s intervention yields increase. (verse 6-8). Are we willing as a church to do things that allows the church to grow? Each one, reach one? We must influence others to be a part of who we are; make a difference. Paul planted; Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
(3) The Importance of service: – The church needs people to work in various areas as ushers, greeters, teachers etc. any task that fits your capabilities or personalities or talents. God gives the resources and blesses the efforts that we make.
THOUGHT: Be a Kingdom Builder, everyone is important in his or her own way.
