“…And I tell you that you are Peter and on this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” – (Matthew 16:18)
Jesus makes a very interesting point when he commented on this confession by the Apostle Peter. In so doing, he was telling Peter that what he confessed was divine and it was perfectly on point.
It began with Jesus asking the disciples “Who do people say that I am? They all responded with what the word on the street was concerning him: “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets. He asked them a more personal question: “But who do you say I am?” to which Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God”
To the entire Ebenezer Wesleyan Methodist family,
Let me wish you all a blessed 116th Anniversary and ask that you remember that it is the Lord who has brought us this far. Many of us never thought we would see or be able to participate in the events of this happy and glorious day. It is all because of His mercy. Some of us or others we know well, contracted the Covid-19 virus and those times were times of nervousness and concern as well as intense prayer. By God’s grace and bountiful mercy, we recovered and are still here. Many others didn’t make it, but thanks be to almighty God, we made it.
So now that we are here to rejoice in this day, let us do so with all the strength that God has afforded us, and let us be reminded, he delivere us for a purpose. Each of us should endeavor to discover what that purpose is.
I believe that God wants us to trust him more, use every opportunity we have to occupy until he comes, not forgetting that he is Second Coming is imminent. Therefore there is no time whatsoever to play church, no time to drag our feet. Every second, minute, hour, day must be used wisely to do all the good we can, to share Christ and the good news of his coming. How big is your faith in God? The days ahead will challenge you to put those plans in place.
I close with this statement from Dwight L Moody: “If God is your partner, make your plans big!”
Happy 116th Anniversary Ebenezer.
